Koromo koi are admired for their unique and intricate patterning. The name “Koromo” means “clothed” or “robed” in Japanese, reflecting the beautiful, lace-like overlays on their scales. These koi typically feature a white base with red markings, overlaid by a distinctive, net-like blue or black pattern, creating a visually stunning effect. There are several varieties of Koromo koi, including Ai Goromo (blue robe), Sumi Goromo (black robe), and Budo Goromo (grape robe), each offering a different twist on the intricate overlay pattern. This unique combination of colors and patterns makes Koromo koi highly prized among enthusiasts for their aesthetic appeal. Koromo koi are also known for their calm and friendly nature, often becoming quite interactive with their keepers. They can grow to impressive sizes, typically reaching between 24 and 30 inches when given proper care. This hardiness and adaptability make them suitable for various pond conditions as a beloved addition.
