Tancho Kohaku koi are a unique and prized variety of Kohaku koi, distinguished by their pure white bodies and a single, perfectly round red (hi) marking on their heads. This distinctive red spot, reminiscent of the Japanese flag’s red sun, is the defining feature of Tancho Kohaku, symbolizing good fortune and prosperity. The simplicity and elegance of their pattern make them a standout among koi enthusiasts. The white body of Tancho Kohaku should be pristine, free of any blemishes or discoloration, enhancing the visual impact of the red spot. The red marking should also be ideally centered on the head, with a uniform and vibrant hue to add to the koi’s aesthetic appeal. For many koi keepers, Tancho Kohaku koi are considered the crown jewels of their koi collections, bringing a touch of grace and tranquility to koi ponds and water gardens.
